MESA, Ariz. -- Jim Hendry had nothing to say Tuesday on Ryan Theriot's arbitration hearing, which suggests the stalemate continues.
Barring unforeseen developments, Theriot will become the first Cubs player to go to the arbitration table against Hendry, despite the good relationship the two have always maintained.
Theriot is seeking $3.4 million, while the Cubs have countered with an offer of $2.6 million. The hearing date hasn't been announced, but Hendry plans to fly to St. Petersburg, Fla. later this week to represent the Cubs. Hendry won't be the one making the argument before the arbitrator.
Like the rest of the Cubs' position players, Theriot doesn't have to arrive in camp until Feb. 23. He has yet to discuss his situation with the media.

$2.6 is overpayment.
Ryan, you're a ML 2B, slap hitter - a GOOD slap hitter, but a slap hitter nonetheless - with a weak arm and limited range.
When I look into the crystal ball, I see a future for you as ... Aaron Miles.
