By Vaughn McClureOn Tuesday morning, running back Kevin Jones was hoping to get another opportunity with the Bears after being cleared medically to play.
Now he's looking for another job.
Jones said he was released Tuesday afternoon, ending his brief stint with the Bears.
Newly signed Chester Taylor will be a co-starter with Matt Forte, according to offensive coordinator Mike Martz in an interview with the Bears' Web site. So the backfield picture was getting a bit crowded.
"I'm just thankful for the opportunity the Bears gave me here," Jones told the Tribune.

Jones signed with the Bears prior to the 2008 season after being
released by the Lions. After rushing for 109 yards on 34 carries in his
first year, Jones missed all of 2009 after tearing ligaments in his
left ankle in the exhibition finale against the Browns.
The Bears still have Garrett Wolfe and Kahlil Bell on the roster behind Forte and Taylor. Veteran Adrian Peterson is not expected back.
Jones initially signed a one-year, $605,000 contract with the Bears. Then before the '09 season, he signed a two-year contract worth $3.5 million, including a $1 million bonus and $2 million in the first season. Jones agreed to rejoin the Bears while on a free-agent visit to Buffalo.

Man,you guys call your selves fans? You sound like a bunch of whiny b#thches!
Bill-You think TO would be a mistake. So are you happy with the current core of WR. All unproven and young. TO just seems to be a guy out there that you could sign for 1 year and if he works out grea, if he doesnt than o well. Cutler needs a proven WR to really showcase his talents.
Ideally sure I would love to have Brandon Marshall, but thats just not going to happen. TO can be great receiver ecsp. with an arm like cutler throwing to him. Im just not sold on our WR core. I know TO is not a leader but maybe the young WRs could learn a thing or two as well.
Above all, lets get a brand new O LINE. that is the main issue right now. Cutler is a very talented QB. I did see Forte give less effort last year, but his line sure as hell didnt help
Joe F you seem upset. Its Taylor Joe, he's the starter, or will be, they just don't want the controversy to get going to early. I bet Martz would have been glad to say it was Taylor but Lovie and Angie don't do things that way, you know that. The Super secret society has one of the biggest mouths in all of football running its offense, this going to be so much fun.
Lovie: Shhhhh Mike its a secret.
Martz: What secret? Jones sucks and Omiyale couldn't block his own grandmother..
Lovie: Shhhh we don't want the fans to know that.
Martz: Are you stupid, have even read blog or listened to the radio? Everyone knows it.
Lovie: No they don't fans only believe what I tell them, its Jedi mind trick.
Martz: Oh f### me I really came to the nut house didn't I?
I know alot of the comments are condemning Wolfe.. But I like the guy.
He gives it his all, If the OLD offensive coordinator wouldn't have Wolfe going throw the middle of the line all the time , I believe he could have surprised a lot of people.. Plays should have been set up for around end runs amd play action for him. The plays were NOT setup this way so he suffered. But I will say very seldom did he get caught from behind like Forte.. I don't like Forte.. He says he was injured. Well we will see this year .. If he don't show speed and gain strength hes gone next year.
Exactly, hard to feel sorry for these guys, Orlando Pace alone made a 5 million dollar bonus; for what, dressing in the locker room?
rid wolfe & peterson...BYE...dont need yall... love that yall love to be here but loyalty to sub par players doesn't win championships
& on the low Tim Shaw is our best Special Teams player

Life's a beach. His serverence pay will be more than most people make in their lifetime.
........and a LOT more than he EARNED while with Bears.

They want to keep Wolfe around because he is good on Special Teams and Lovie loves people who are good at only 1 thing. Wolfe is too small to do pretty much anything and he is being protected by his 3rd round draft pick status. I'd much rather have Bell over Wolfe.
Man, a lot of football stupid on this board. Torry Holt is basically done. There is no reason to waste a roster spot on him to "mentor" our young receivers. You also need to have more faith in Martz. The guy is direct and to the point with how players are used. There is a good chance that Peterson and Wolfe are both gone as long as they find special teams guys that can do what these guys have done in the past. The bottom line is that they won't fit with Martz's offense. TO would be a terrible fit with Martz as his coach plus he's been a cancer EVERYWHERE he's ever played...Chicago would be no different.
Get a clue guys.
Ok..that fact that you said you'd keep Peterson automatically discredits your post.He is worthless.
I am also sad to see Jones go, I was hoping for a come back year, last year that is. Wolfe is nice to keep around as a special play type player. He is certainly not able to be a stable running back.
Lets go get an O line. I wouldnt mind getting a guy like TO for a 1 year contract.
Great, now Martz is even using the "Co-starter" B.S. These are grown men, and they want to compete! We don't need to coddle them like they are in Little League, and everybody gets to play. Lovie is way too soft for the players we have. They obviously are getting weaker as a team, and no one is there to kick them in the butt when they need it. We get blind loyalty, fanatical devotion to his pets, and "co-starters." Enough already!
If it is a competition, say that Forte and Taylor will fight it out for the starting job. If someone is not getting the job done, call them on it. Great organizations will do that. We get the shiny, happy people bus that we used to get off running...
I hate to see him go.I thought he played hard ,but injuries got him.Bell makes a good back should should either of the other backs get dinged up.Wolfe is another story. Why they keep him around is beyond me.I'd keep Peterson,as he has always does well on special teams, and he can still run the ball if asked to do it.Angelo and Lovie have got got to be scheming on how to come up with a couple "O" line that can get it done, and a FS.Torry Holt should be brought in to help the younger players, plus he's got a little more mileage left in him. This team is getting close to being a very good one,and a few more moves and we will have a good chance to make it to the big show.
Go Bears!
Great Grand Pappy
What is the facination that the Bears have with Garrett Wolfe???? Drives me CRAZY that they still keep him when he does so LITTLE (no pun intended) for the team! Love Forte and Taylor, though! NICE one-two punch!!!!
I hope bell gets a chance. He showed much promise.
While he didn't do much for the Bears, Jones was still a pretty good guy. My dad did the flooring for his house and he autographed a bunch of stuff for me. He was a good character guy. I wish him luck for his next team. I'll miss him
Jones looked terrible during the preseason last year before he got hurt.
Glad he's gone.
Get rid of Wolfe too.
Jones busted his Arse to Play... It's just to bad he couldn't stay healthy. Good Luck KJ
dahh r u surprised he wasn't suppose to be there in the first place come on he's a joke no speed no good cut moves no nothing sorry go to the arena football or something BY.
