Jonathan Toews hugs Patrick Kane after he scored into an empty net late in the third period (Nuccio DiNuzzo / Tribune) By Brian Hamilton
Kris Versteeg got denied twice on golden chances in Game 2. He didn't blow the third.
The Blackhawks winger one-timed the go-ahead goal with 90 seconds to play in Game 2, and then the Hawks added an empty-netter with 47.7 seconds left to complete a 4-2 win and a massive comeback in a must-win game.
Though the Hawks redoubled their effort and intensity in the second period, they got nothing out of it, with the Canucks' Roberto Luongo denying two breakaways. But Luongo couldn't muster the save on a Patrick Sharp shorthanded rush, as he evened it up at the 6:49 mark of the third period with Duncan Keith in the penalty box.

Then the Hawks put some serious pressure in the Canucks zone leading to the Versteeg score, with Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith moving the puck quickly across ice to Versteeg, whose score was his first tally of the postseason. br />
A goal by Seabrook at the 7:40 mark of the first period injected some life into the proceedings, but only after a completely uninspired start had put the Hawks in a two-goal hole.
It was, indeed, about the worst start imaginable before Seabrook's tally, which came after Versteeg and Dave Bolland created a ruckus in the crease.
A power-play goal from the Canucks' Mikael Samuelsson made it a 2-0 game barely five minutes into the night. The score came off a gorgeous feed from Hart Trophy nominee Henrik Sedin on a 5-on-3 power play, the result of back-to-back delay of game penalties from the Hawks' Niklas Hjalmarsson and Seabrook.
That just created a deeper crevasse after the Hawks fell behind not two minutes into a game, things quickly going from bad to horrendous.
After the Hawks failed to clear their own zone, the Canucks' Mason Raymond punched home a rebound off a Ryan Kesler short-range shot to provide a 1-0 lead at the 1:22 mark of Game 2.
Seconds later, the Canucks' Kevin Bieksa hit the post for a near-score -- a sign that even the Hawks lineup changes may not have injected any life early on. At any rate, Burish and burly Ben Eager returned for Game 2, with defenseman Jordan Hendry and winger Bryan Bickell scratched for the night.
The Hawks' desperation to score is already manifest: Coach Joel Quenneville has run a line of Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa onto the ice before the first period hit its halfway mark.

Why does Chelsea Dagger make us the laughing stock? Great song, especially when celebrating a goal... It's also original which I cant say for many of the other teams in the league... How many of them play some version of Zombie Nation... a song thats been in hockey for what 8 years now?
Plus how can you bash a song made by a band named after the family in the Goonies??? The Fratellis for all of you who didn't know...
Since baseball already came up...
Dear Cubs fans - KEEP YOUR STUPID W FLAGS AT HOME. I DON'T CARE IF THEY ARE RED AND HAVE HAWKS LOGOS. THAT'S A CUBS THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It only shows that you're a bandwagoner if you show up with one of those. DUMB!!!
That song they play after every goal in Chicago's arena makes their fans the laughing stock of the league.
Canucks blew their wad in the first 5 periods. Hawks in 5.

Hey hawsfan idiot... I'm doing my residency helping with the shortage of doctors you moron. It's always idiots like you who ruin it for others. Take out whatever is up your ass so your brain can breathe. I'm working 4 days straight so you can go ahead & write whatever but you sir, are a true dunce.(I see you with the hat) GO CANUCKS!!!!!!
*Ahem* As I've been saying (and continued to say even after the Game 1 embarrassment): Hawks in 6. That is all.
It's so nice to be able to say what I want to say on this site without looking at the people listening to me reacting to my lisp.
The cubs need to stay away from the Hawks like on Saturday night.

Kind of stupid for Kane to say that they didn't expect Vancouver to be good. What!?!? So he's actually admitting that they underestimated the Canucks and didn't try?! How dumb. I feel for the Hawk's fans. You guys are an awesome hockey town but I think the Canucks in 6.
GO POST AT YOUR OWN SITE WE DO NOT NEED YOUR STUPID COMMENTS.
Hossa still has been disappointing. I'm glad they won the game because it would have been disastrous to go down 2-0 heading to Vancouver. If they can play hard like they did following the 2-0 lead of Vancouver, they have a good chance in the series.
really big cat? I know more cubs fans that bailed on their team opening day than sox fans all year... I know because I live in wrigleyville. But hey lets keep it about the Hawks and not dread on our baseball teams.
With that said awesome game! my girlfriend literally busted my lip during our celebration... well worth the win though!
All you whining crybabies can get off the bandwagon now, thanks for playing though! Why don't you all head on over to the South Side for some baseball, I'm sure the lot of you are Sox fans with the way you bail on your team at the first sign of trouble, and help Reinsdorf buy the Coyotes?
Great game, much needed win . . . someone let the Blackhawks know it's ok to win a Game 3 though.
Besides, the guys on the Hawks are way cuter than those Canadian boys. I'm going to be looking at my Andrew Ladd poster all night.
Hey gosox1 - go pound sand - ya loser. I too am a sox fan but I don't bail on my team...sure you are not a pansy cubbie fan in disguise.
Hawks take one in vancity and come back for a great game 5.
Sweep? Not this Hawk team. They may or nay not win this series. But they will not be an easy out.

Not surprised at all this team has had its issues since a little b4 the olympic break. I see them winning a game or two against vancover but that's it. When do the bears start traning camp again? Lol
Cup....
Blame this to the expressway painting mural of Toews holding da cub...
I thought da hawks sign Hossa for we could go further in the playoffs? How is that working out?
Next home game is in October. This team is done. Maybe after Saturday, they can all sit and admire Toews holding the Stanley Cup off the Kennedy Expressway.
This team is FLAT OUT DONE. They look totally outmatched in every way. Toews, Kane and Hossa are MIA. They'll probably get swept. They are not matching the Canucks in any way.
It is not a must win until it is an elimination game.
