After last-minute negotiations, the Big Ten Network has been given permission to show the NCAA Division I women's lacrosse Final Four this weekend.
Northwestern's semifinal game against North Carolina will air on a delayed basis Friday night at 9:30 (or at the conclusion of Big Ten baseball tournament coverage.) It will also be re-aired Saturday at 9 a.m., preceded by the Maryland-Duke semifinal at 7 a.m.
All three lacrosse games will be streamed live (free) on ncaa.com. The Duke-Maryland semi Friday begins at 4 p.m., followed by Northwestern-North Carolina at 6:30.
Women's lacrosse coaches and administrators had been angry that the terms of a new, 14-year deal between Turner Sports and the NCAA were to have kept coverage exclusively on the Internet.
CBS College Sports, which had aired the Division I tournament in the past, decided last year not to broadcast any future NCAA tourneys other than Division I men's basketball.
Talks among Northwestern, the Big Ten Network, Turner Sports and the NCAA culminated in an agreement to let the BTN take the Internet feed for a telecast.
